:::Roscosmos, a Russian Space Agency, said that it launched a Soyuz Rocket. The rocket carries an Arktika-M Satellite that will monitor the Arctic's climate. It was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The agency added by saying that it has designed the 'Arktika' hydrometeorological and & climate monitoring space system to monitor the climate & environment in the Arctic region and that it will also provide round-the-clock all-weather monitoring of the Earth's surface & the seas of the Arctic Ocean.

To operate properly, the monitoring system requires a minimum of two satellites. Hence, the launch of the second Arktia-M Satellite has been planned for the year 2023.

:::Josep Maria Bartomeu, the former President of Barcelona, and Oscar Grau, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Barcelona, were arrested by Spanish Police after the police raided Barcelona Camp Nou Stadium. Both of them have been arrested for their involvement in the Barcagate Scandal, and both of them have been accused of launching a smear campaign against any player - current or ex - who was critical of the club. According to Cadena SER Radio, Josep Maria Bartomeu & Oscar Grau have been arrested on the suspicion of unfair administration, corruption between individuals, and money laundering.

Roman G mez Ponti, the Head of Barcelona's legal department, has also been arrested for his involvement in the Barcagate Scandal.

:::According to a report published by Hurun India, India added forty billionaires in the pandemic year (2020). The report compiles individual or family wealth in the year to January 15. As per the Hurun Global Rich List, Mukesh Ambani's wealth increased by 24% and his net worth is now $83 billion making him the eighth richest person in the world. The wealth of Gautam Adani almost doubled in the pandemic year and his net worth is $32 billion, making him the forty-eighth richest person in the world. The wealth of Kiran Mazumdar Shaw went up by 41%, taking her net worth to $4.8 billion. The net worth of Smita V Crishna is now $4.7 billion. The list is globally led by Elon Musk with a net worth of $197 billion and he is followed by Jeff Bezos with a net worth of $189 billion.

Anas Rahman Junaid, the Managing Director & Chief Researcher of Hurun India, said that the wealth creation of Indians was mostly dominated by cyclical or traditional industries as compared to the tech-driven wealth creation in the United States of America (USA) and China. He also said that India will potentially beat other countries in terms of billionaires only when its tech-driven wealth creation reaches full potential.

:::The Delhi Government suspended the subsidy that was being offered on Tata Nexon EV due to an increase in complaints about its sub-standard range performance. Kailash Gahlot, the Minister of Delhi Transport, said that they were committed to supporting electric vehicles (EV) but not at the cost of trust & confidence of citizens in claims by manufacturers. A spokesperson from Tata Motors underlined the claim of Nexon EV running 312 kilometers per charge as per the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and responded to Kailash Gahlot's statement by saying that it was unfortunate to receive the order & that the company would continue to engage constructively to protect the interests of its customers.

The spokesperson of Tata Motors also said that the actual range achieved by an EV depends on AC usage, individual driving style & the actual conditions in which the vehicle is driven. The spokesperson added that the range achievement was also a function of familiarity with the new technology and customers reported 10% improvement within four to six weeks of familiarity.

:::The Goa Police arrested a Delhi woman for sexually assaulting a French Woman. The victim is a Yoga instructor & a student of Political Science and she identifies herself as a queer. The accused is a poet-activist & a mental health advocate and she identifies herself as a queer too. The victim has alleged that the accused drugged her, groped her, and performed shamanic rituals before assaulting her sexually with her hands. The victim said that she understood that woman-to-woman sexual assault was very hard to be recognized as rape and hence, she insisted to get her medical report inspected as it would show that she suffered small lesions between her private parts and her chest & back were covered with bruises.

The accused was booked under IPC sections 342 for wrongful confinement and 354 for sexual assault.

:::Volocopter, a Germany-based air taxi start-up, raised around $241 million in its Series D funding. This includes a mix of financial and strategic backers. The Series D funding saw the participation of some new investors like BlackRock, Atlantia S.p.A and Avala Capital. It also saw the participation of some existing investors like DB Schenker, Intel Capital, and btov Partners. Rene Griemens, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Volocopter, said that their investment was a reflection of their excitement about the company as a leader in building the entire ecosystem of Urban Air Mobility (UAM), thereby giving credibility & comfort for purely financial investors.

Florian Reuter, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volocopter, announced that the services for its two vehicle models - VoloDrone and VoloCity - will begin in about two years.

:::Tata Motors launched Tiago XTA at ₹5.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) and it is only available in the petrol engine option. It has various features like a 7-inch Infotainment Touchscreen by Harman, 15-inch Alloys, automatic climate control, and a Digital Instrument Custer.

Vivek Srivatsa, Head of Marketing of Passenger Vehicle Business Unit at Tata Motors, said that the company was very excited to introduce the XTA version to the range and that the company was confident that the new variant would not only give it a competitive edge in the mid-hatch segment but it would also provide customers with various options to choose from at every price point.

:::Amazon.com Inc. decided to use its automated checkout technology outside the United States of America (USA). The company will open a cashier-less convenience store in London and use cameras & sensors to track the activities of a shopper. The automated checkout technology would charge a customer by the credit card that they have on file. The store has a dimension of 2,500 sq. foot. It will be branded as, "Amazon Fresh". The official spokesperson of Amazon said that the store represented to re-shape physical retailing. Amazon has also offered to license the system - Just Walk Out Technology - to other companies.

The USA has twenty-six cashier-less convenience stores under the brand name, "Amazon Go".

:::ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, a joint venture of ArcelorMittal & Japanese giant Nippon Steel, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha, to build a steel plant of 12 million ton capacity in Kendrapara, a district in Odisha. Naveen Patnaik, in a tweet, said that the deal would give a boost to the government's Invest-in-Odisha campaign. He added that the state government would provide every required support & facilitation for the setting-up of this project.

It is estimated that the deal is worth around ₹50,000 crores.

:::Zimbabwe became the first African country to approve the usage of Covaxin. Covaxin is a COVID-19 vaccine that has been developed by Bharat Biotech International Limited, a company that is located in Hyderabad (Telangana). The approval comes as a result of the company's announcement in which it said that the vaccine had an efficacy rate of 81%. The efficacy rate of 81% is based on the preliminary results from its phase three clinical trials.

The Indian Embassy in Zimbabwe said in a tweet that it was trying to get the vaccine to Zimbabwe as early as possible.

In this week's Special Section, let's have a look at the initial days of the life of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, also known as Jamsetji Tata.

Jamsetji Tata was born to a family of priests on March 03, 1839, in Navsari, Gujarat. His family had fled to India from Iran to save themselves from the ongoing persecution of Zoroastrians.

He started working with his father at an age of fourteen years. His father saw a lot of potential in him and enrolled him at the Elphinstone College. The liberal education fueled him with a lifelong admiration for academics and a love of reading.

He completed his education as a Green Scholar and decided to start his own business, first to do so in his family. He started a trading company in 1868 followed by a textile business in 1869.  He started the textile business based on what he had learned during his first expedition to England.

He then went on to establish Tata Group - now known as Tata Group of Companies, Jamshedpur - a city in Jharkhand, Tata Steel Limited, Taj Hotels, Tata Sons, and Indian Hotels Company Limited.

Jawaharlal Nehru referred to him as a One-Man Planning Commission. Jamsetji Tata is also referred to as the Father of Indian Industry.
