The World Environment Day was started by the United Nations in 1974 to encourage awareness and environmental protection. It is celebrated every year on the fifth day of June. The celebration witnesses the active global participation of governments, businesses, celebrities, and citizens.

The theme for this year's celebration was Ecosystem Restoration. The theme further highlighted the aim of the UN of reviving billions of hectares ranging from forests to farmlands and from the top of the mountains to the depth of the sea.

Every country gets the opportunity to host the celebration. This year's virtual celebration was hosted by Pakistan.

That is all for this week.
