Tech Day: Updates Related to India's Wearable Market, Pokemon Legends Arceus, and Pro-Dock 4

:::According to a report released by IDC Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker (IDC), the wearable market of India rose by 170.3% Year-on-Year (YoY) in the first quarter of 2021. The maximum growth was noticed in the category of watches that rose by 463.8% YoY. This category was led by Noise with a share of 26.7% and it was followed by BoAt with a share of 21.9%.

The earwear category too noticed the growth of 209.3% YoY in the first quarter of 2021. The wristband category, however, registered a decline of 22.4%.

Even though the wearable market grew by 170.3%, the shipment of wearable devices declined by 24.9%. An official spokesperson from IDC attributed the decline of shipment to the COVID-19 pandemic and the limit set by the companies on fresh purchases by channel partners.

:::Nintendo has announced that "Pokemon Legends: Arceus" will be launched on Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022. This announcement has increased the excitement of every gamer who was waiting for it since February 2021, the day when the game was first announced.

The game has been developed by Game Freak. It will take place in the older version of the Sinnoh region, a region of the Pokemon World, before the time of Pokemon trainers and organized competition.

Nintendo, in a media statement, said that the game would enable the players to go out into the wild to study the behavior of a Pokemon, sneak up to them, and throw Pokeballs at them.

:::Western Digital, the owner of the SanDisk brand, announced Pro-Dock 4. Pro-Dock 4 enables a user to read multiple memory cards simultaneously. A user only has to connect it to the computer by using a Thunderbolt 3 cable. It will support six types of cards namely, CFast, CFexpress, Red's Mini-Mags, CF, microSD, and SD formats.

A user may operate every module independently or modify the combination of cards. For example, a user may read either two microSD cards together or one microSD with one CFast card.

This comes as a move after the operators announced that they would be shifting their network completely to 4G and 5G technology. This shift would make 2G and 3G networks an outdated technology. The shift is currently only for the users of the United States of America. It would start coming into effect by the end of 2021. The devices that will lose internet access are Kindle First Generation, Kindle Second Generation, and Kindle DX Second Generation. The users will be unable to download new content. However, they would still be able to access the content that they have already downloaded on their device.
