:::Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, launched mYoga App. The app is an initiative of the Indian Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). It will have training videos and other important information related to Yoga. Narendra Modi, while launching the app, said that the app would help everyone to fulfill the motto of, "One World, One Health". He added that Yoga was an array of hope amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

mYoga App was launched by Narendra Modi on International Yoga Day. The app is expected to be available across the globe in several languages.

:::The first-ever shelter home for transgenders was set up by Dostana Safar. Dostana Safar is a Bihar-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and it is supervised by the district administration of Patna. The shelter home can support twenty-five members of the transgender community on its three floors. It will also work as a training center to develop the skills of the members of the transgender community.

The shelter home has been set up under the "Garima Greh Scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment". The volunteers have named the shelter home, "Garima Greh", after the scheme under which it has been launched.

:::Around 5,900 aspirants of the Chartered Accountancy course wrote a letter to Chief Justice NV Ramana. In the letter to the Chief Justice, the aspirants have sought:

  1. an opt-out option;
  2. extension of old course attempt; and,
  3. various other reliefs related to the course amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aspirants also stated that the extension of the old course was required as July 2021 would be the last attempt  for the students pursuing the old course and they would have to opt for the new course & study the entire syllabus again in case they failed.


:::Bumble, a dating app, granted paid leave of one week to its 700 employees worldwide. The company called this a much-needed break and awarded it to its employees to de-stress from the COVID-19 burnout. Clare O'Connor, the Head of Editorial Content at Bumble, published a post on Twitter saying that the break felt like a big deal as vacation days were notoriously scarce in the United States of America. She later deleted the tweet, as reported by Business Today.

The app accessed by millions of users during the lockdown caused burnout to its employees. The app also reported an increase of 30% in the base of paid users during the first three months of 2021 as compared to the first three months of 2020.

:::Mercer, an American asset management firm, released a list of expensive cities for international employees. Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, ranked first in the list of 209 cities. It is followed by Hong Kong, Beirut, Tokyo, Zurich, Shanghai, Singapore, Geneva, Beijing, and Bern. The list also featured five Indian cities with Mumbai at 78th rank, Delhi at 117th rank, Chennai at 158th rank, Bengaluru at 170th rank, and Kolkata at 181st rank.

Mercer considered New York as the base to rank other cities and the US dollar  to measure the movement of currencies. The cost of two hundred items - food, clothing, transportation, housing, and household goods, to name a few - were considered to calculate the expenses.

:::According to Gartner, a research firm, 32% of the workforce worldwide would work remotely by the end of 2021 as compared to 17% in 2019. The firm has also estimated that India would produce one of the largest numbers of remote workers as one-third of the workforce in India would work remotely by 2022. The United States of America (USA) is estimated to lead in the category with 53% of its workforce working remotely.

Ranjit Atwal, the Senior Research Director at Gartner, said that hybrid working is the future for professionals with some of them working remotely & some of them working on-site. He also called this a solution to optimize the needs of an employer's workforce.

:::Virgin Galactic, a spaceship company owned by Richard Branson, received approval from the Federation Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States of America (USA) to fly its customers to space. Michael Colglazier, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Virgin Galactica, issued a statement saying that the approval gave the company confidence to proceed with their first fully crewed test flight.

The share of Virgin Galactic rose by 40% to be valued at $56.40 after it received approval from the FAA.

:::The Central Government of India announced tax exemption for money that a person received for COVID-19 treatment. The Government in its announcement said that the amount paid for treatment to an employee by an employer or any person by any other person in 2019-2020 & subsequent years would not be taxed.
