:::The Supreme Court of Syria accepted applications of three candidates to run for presidential elections. These three candidates are Bashar Assad, Abdullah Salloum Abdullah, and Mahmoud Ahmad Marie. Bashar Assad is the current President of Syria and he would be contesting elections for his fourth seven-year term. Total fifty-one applications (including seven applications of female candidates) were received out of which applications of forty-eight candidates were rejected as they did not meet the constitutional and legal requirements. Mohamad Jihad Lahham, the President of the Supreme Constitutional Court, said that the rejected candidates had the right to appeal before the court within three days.

:::Baidu rolled out Apollo Robotaxis service in Beijing. The Apollo Robotaxi is a taxi that runs without a driver. It comes with one safety member seated in the front passenger seat. The safety member acts if there is an emergency like a technical issue or vehicle breakdown. Baidu is currently running ten Apollo Robotaxis in an area of three kilometers. Each ride costs around $4.60/-.

He issued a statement saying that he is thrilled to be a part of the company that is on its way to becoming a leader in global Electronic Vehicle (EV) solutions. Bhavish Aggarwal, the Chairman & Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OLA, said that he looks forward to collaborating with Wayne Burgess. He added that his expertise in designing some of the most legendary vehicles would help bring new form factors to consumers.

The ceremony was conducted at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, where he was sworn in by Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States of America (USA). As a NASA Administrator, the responsibility of Bill Nelson would be to lead space programs like landing the first woman & first person of color on the moon and expanding climate change research.

:::A campaign, #FreeTheVaccine, was launched by more than a hundred US Democratic lawmakers. The campaign aimed to achieve a temporary waiver of COVID-19 vaccine patents to boost its supply. Lloyd Doggett, a Congressman, called the blocking of access to vaccine an anti-humanitarian and an anti-diplomatic move. He tweeted saying that the move to block access to the COVID-19 vaccine weakens American influence for good on the global stage.

The support of more than a hundred US Democratic lawmakers comes in response to a proposal that was put forth by India and South Africa before the World Trade Organization (WTO).
:::Hyundai recalled more than 3,90,000 cars in the United States of America (USA) and Canada. The models that were reported to be affected were Santa Fe SUVs built between 2013 & 2015, Elantra built between 2019 & 2020, and Kona & Velosters built between 2019 & 2021. These models have been recalled due to a problem that causes engine fire.

:::European Commission announced the allocation of emergency funds. The Commission has mentioned in their announcement the allocation of emergency funds worth 2.2 million euros. These funds will support the World Health Organization (WHO) to respond to the rise of COVID-19 cases in India by strengthening the laboratory capacity for COVID-19 testing.

Janez Lenarcic, the Commissioner for Crisis Management, issued a statement saying that the European Commission stands ready to work with the WHO and other partners on the ground to jointly fight the battle at this difficult time.
:::The Bombay High Court granted bail to Vikram Bhave. He is one of the accused who helped the alleged shooters to murder Narendra Dabholkar in 2013. He will, however, be released after he submits a cash bond of ₹1 lakh. He has been granted bail with instructions to visit the police station every day for a week, then twice a week for two months, and once every week till the trial ends.

:::The Malaysia Open Tournament got postponed due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. The tournament was scheduled to be held from May 25, 2021, to May 30, 2021, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A statement was issued by the Badminton World Federation saying that all the attempts were made to provide a safe environment for all participants but the recent surge in cases left no choice except to postpone the tournament.

The short film was directed by Prasad Kadam and it was produced by FNP Media. Anupam Kher thanked the entire team of the production and called the moment of receiving the award a great honor.

There are some humans without a soul taking advantage of others' vulnerable situations. Here's how:
- There are a few people who fear coming under the radar of Government Agencies. They wish to avoid quarantine. Hence, they go out looking for a private agency that can simply conduct the test and give them their report. This has given an opportunity of conducting fake tests and charging a fee that is more than the one that is approved by the Government. Such patients become difficult to be traced and they often become a carrier of the virus.
It is recommended to visit an authorized test center. One should not think about escaping the Government's radar. A patient would be treated only if officials are aware of him/her. - Black marketing of medicines and oxygen cylinders is on the rise. The black marketers seek more than 50%, some even seek 100%, as an advance payment for the medical material. They set up a fake bank account in the name of a company. One incident that came to light was that of Cipla where the black marketers had set up a bank account in the name of the company and were collecting money from people by giving them a guarantee to deliver the medicine. The company issued a statement and asked everyone to buy from the authorized sellers only. Such criminals switch off their phones after they have received the payment. The delivery of fake medicines is another cruel act that they do.
One has to understand that an advance payment is not required and it should not be made to a person they have never met. It's okay if one wants to post a requirement on the internet but one also has to be careful while dealing with a stranger. Stay in touch with your doctor and ask for the authorized source from where you can buy the essential medical supplies. - There have been a lot of highlights about hospitals not releasing a patient till the time bills are paid. This cannot be categorized as a scam if one looks at it from the financial aspect: Pay the bill because you have availed of our services. So, why is the point in this category? That's because some hospitals admit a patient even if it's not required and then bill them for services that have not been availed by the patient for example an oxygen cylinder. This incident is what forced the Government to release a statement asking citizens to not panic if they observe mild symptoms. It's true as a patient with mild symptoms can quarantine himself/herself at home and get better.
Creating a panic situation would not help. It will make your situation worse. If you observe any symptom related to COVID-19, then the first thing that you can do is isolate yourself at home. The second thing to do is, consult your doctor. If a test is prescribed, then get it done and wait for your report after which you can act as your doctor recommends.
